On Saturday afternoon, Liverpool host Leicester at Anfield, as the Premier League leaders look to continue their imperious start to the campaign.

Liverpool (Odds of 4/9 for victory)

Jurgen Klopp’s team have won their opening seven Premier League matches, which means that the Reds have now won 16 straight top-flight victories dating back to last season.

Last time out in the Premier League, the Merseysider’s recorded a 1-0 win at Sheffield United. The result ended a prolific run of form in the top-flight, as Klopp’s side had scored at least two goals in their previous 15 league games.

Klopp’s team also recorded a 4-3 midweek victory over RB Salzburg in the Champions League. The home side threw away a three-goal lead before Mohamed Salah scored the winning goal. The victory kick-off started the European champions’ campaign after defeat in their opening group game against Napoli.

Liverpool have been formidable on home soil in the Premier League, as they are unbeaten in 43 top-flight games on home soil. The Reds have won their last ten league outings at Anfield, scoring at least two goals in all of their previous ten matches at home soil.

The Reds are unbeaten in eight matches in all competitions at Anfield against the visitors. Although the Foxes did claim a 1-1 draw at the famous old stadium last season, which was the last time an opposition team took anything away with them from a game at Liverpool.

Leicester (Odds of 6/1 for victory)

The visitors have started their Premier League campaign in a promising fashion, with the Foxes currently third-place in the table. Brendan Rodgers team has won four of their last five league matches. Last time out, the visitors hammered ten-man Newcastle 5-0 at the King Power Stadium.

The humbling of the Magpies also means that the visitors have found the net at least twice in four of their last five top-flight outings.

Former England striker Jamie Vardy has been a key figure in the Foxes good attacking numbers, as the 32-year-old has scored five times in his seven top-flight starts this season. Full-back Ricardo Pereira has also scored in his last two Premier League games.

One stat that does not make happy reading for the visitors is that they have won just once in five away games in the Premier League. The fact that the Foxes have failed to keep a clean sheet in 11 top-flight away days does not bode well for the visitors against such a potent Liverpool frontline.

Prediction

This will be a massive test of Leicester and their top-six or even top-four ambitions. A defeat would not be the end of the world, as most teams suffer defeat at Anfield. However, taking something from the game will really make everybody connected with the club believe that they can really mount a serious challenge for those European places this season.

Unfortunately for Leicester, we are backing a business as usual home win at odds of 4/9. The over 2.5 goals scored rarely offers much value in Liverpool games. However, both teams to score at odds of 3/ 4 offers slightly more value, considering Liverpool’s defence is not as watertight as last season.

Verdict: We are backing the home win at odds of 4/9 and both teams to score at odds of 3/ 4.
