Prediction and odds for the game: Neman Grodno (21/10) v Torpedo Zhodino (7/5)

We are backing the away win

When: Thursday, 21st May 2020 Kick-off 17:00

Where: The Stadion Neman

On Thursday evening, Neman Grodno host Torpedo Zhodino at the Stadion Neman, as the visitors look to continue their good start to their campaign in the Belarus Premier League.

Neman Grodno

The home side has made a less than auspicious start to their campaign in the top-flight of Belarussian football. Neman are just one place above the relegation zone, although they are four points ahead of 15th place Smolevichi with a game in-hand.

A recent run of just one win in their last six league outings has not helped their chances of moving away from the wrong end of the table. That run includes three defeats in their last four league outings, the last of which was a 4-2 home loss against Ruh Brest.

The defeat in their last game again showed their defensive vulnerability, as Neman have now conceded at least twice in all three of those recent losses. Their poor defensive displays have contributed to over 2.5 goals scored in their last three league matches.

The home side has been inconsistent of late on home soil in the top-flight. However, the defeat against Ruh Brest ended a six-game unbeaten home run, consisting of four wins and two draws.

Torpedo Zhodino

In contrast to the home side, Torpedo Zhodino have made a promising start to the season 2020 season in the Belarus Premier League. The visitors are currently second in the table, just a point behind leaders BATE Borisov.

A 3-1 home win over Gorodeya last time out means that Torpedo are now unbeaten in six top-flight matches, having recorded three wins and three draws. The visitors recent league outings have been generally low-scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in seven of their last nine Premier League matches.

The visitors are unbeaten on their travels in three league outings but have won just two of their last seven away games in the Belarus top-flight. Torpedo have been inconsistent in front of goal away from home of late, having scored five goals in a 5-2 win over Minsk, but failing to score in three of their last four other away matches.

Torpedo Zhodino have a decent recent record against the home side, having lost just one of the last six meetings with the hosts.

Conclusion

This is a clash between a team who are struggling in the league against a team that is inconsistent on their travels. We are backing Torpedo to continue their good start to the campaign, recording a victory in a high-scoring match.

Verdict: We are backing the away win at odds of 7/5 and/or over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 6/4. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
