Prediction and odds for the game: Monchengladbach (1/3) v Hertha Berlin (7/1)

We are backing the home win

When: Saturday, 27th June 2020, Kick-off 14:30

Where: Borussia Park

On Saturday afternoon, Monchengladbach host Hertha Berlin at Borussia Park, as the home side look to seal a spot in next seasons Champions League.

Monchengladbach

The scenario is simple for the Foals, as they only must avoid defeat in this clash to qualify for next season’s Champions League. Marco Rose’s team have been superb this season, especially going forward. However, their Bundesliga form has been mixed since the season restart. They have bounced back from that inconsistency to win their last two league matches against Wolfsburg and last time out Paderborn.

Gladbach have been back to their attacking best in those recent wins. Attacking midfielder Lars Stindl has scored three times in his last two Bundesliga appearances for the Foals.

The home side has an inconsistent recent home record in the German top-flight. However, Rose’s team has won three of their last four league matches on home soil, while at least twice in all three wins. Their recent home games in the Bundesliga have certainly offered good value for money when it comes to goals, as there have been over 2.5 goals scored in each of their last six home matches in the league.

Hertha Berlin

The team from the German capital looked like top-six contenders for a while after the appointment of Bruno Labbadia as head coach. However, a run of three straight defeats against Dortmund, Eintracht Frankfurt and Freiburg put their top-six hopes to bed. They did, however, end that losing run last time out with a 2-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen, which ironically helped Monchengladbach’s top-four chances.

Hertha’s recent matches in the German top-flight have been relatively high-scoring, with at least two goals scored in 12 of their last 13 outings in the league. The fact that the visitors have failed to score in just one of their last ten Bundesliga games has been a factor in those high-scoring games.

The visitors have struggled for results away from home in the German top-flight of late, winning just one of their last five matches on their travels. They have also suffered back-to-back away defeats at Dortmund and Freiburg. Their recent away games in the Bundesliga have been high-scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in six of their last seven away games.

Conclusion

Monchengladbach are in a strong position heading into this game, while Hertha seems to have little to play for this season. However, they seemed to have nothing to play for against Bayer last time out and still won. We are backing Marco Rose’s team to record a victory in a high-scoring encounter, as we are backing the over 2.5 goals scored.

Verdict: We are backing the home win at odds of 1/3 and/or over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 4/11. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
