Prediction and odds for the game: Wolves (11/10) v Arsenal (12/5)

We are backing the home win

When: Saturday, 4th July 2020, Kick-off 17:30

Where: Molineux Stadium

On Saturday evening, Wolves host Arsenal at Molineux Stadium in the Premier League, with the home side looking to enhance their Champions League hopes.

Wolves

Nuno Santo Espirito’s team are right in the thick of the race for the four Champions League spots. A 1-0 win at arch-rivals Aston Villa last time out means that the team from the Midlands are only outside the Champions League spots courtesy of inferior goal difference to rivals Manchester United. However, they are also now just three points behind Midlands rivals Leicester, who occupy third spot.

The home teams recent league form has certainly strengthened their top-five claims. They head into this clash on the back of an eight-game undefeated run in the top-flight. A run of five wins from their last six league outings has certainly improved their chances of playing in Europe’s competition next season.

Wolves have been in formidable defensive form of late in the English top-flight, conceding just once in their previous eight outings in the Premier League.

Nuno’s team have a rather inconsistent recent league record at Molineux, as they have won just two of their previous six home games. However, on the flip-side, they have also suffered just one defeat in their last six home games in the English top-flight.

Arsenal

After a few poor results post-COVID, Arsenal have now won their last three games in all competitions, including hammering Norwich 4-0 at the Emirates Stadium last time out in the Premier League.

The two straight league wins have been enough to move the Gunners up to seventh spot. They are now also just six points outside the Champions League spots, a win in this clash could put Mikel Arteta’s team right in the hunt for a top-five spot this season.

Like the hosts, Arsenal’s recent results have improved due to good defensive displays. Not only have the visitors kept two straight clean sheets in the league, but the team from north London have also kept clean sheets in five of their last eight Premier League outings.

One problem that Arteta has struggled to fix since his appointment is the Gunners poor form on their travels, as they won just once in their last eight matches on the road in the English top-flight. However, that one win was their last game on their travels in the top-flight at Southampton in a 2-0 victory.

Conclusion

Wolves and Arsenal are in confident mood after good recent runs of form. This could be a tight clash, but we are backing the home side to record a narrow win. The two teams have looked solid in defence of late, so we are also backing under 2.5 goals scored too.

Verdict: We are backing the home win at odds of 11/10 and/or under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 8/11. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
