Liverpool will attempt to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table when they host relegation strugglers West Bromwich Albion on Sunday.

Liverpool

The rise of Liverpool Football Club under Jurgen Klopp has been pretty phenomenal, and the scariest part of all is that it doesn’t seem to be slowing down – even with all of the adversity that has been thrown in their direction. This squad just knows how to get the job done and even after everything they’ve endured, they are still the clear and obvious favourites to retain their title and continue a real reign of dominance over English football.

The wins over Ajax and Wolves really put Liverpool’s determination into perspective, but draws against Midtjylland and Fulham made them realise just how fragile their position really is. Thankfully, they were then able to bounce back in the most remarkable way imaginable by beating title rivals Tottenham and battering Crystal Palace 7-0.

West Brom

West Bromwich Albion have decided that the key to solving their issues lies in the management of the first team, which is why Sam Allardyce is now the man in charge at The Hawthorns. Some will question whether or not he still has what it takes to guide a team like the Baggies away from the bottom three, but either way, we’re going to find out what he can do over the course of the next few months.

Fans were understandably relieved to see their side pick up a win when they edged out all three points against Sheffield United, and they were also overjoyed with a draw against Manchester City. Alas, good times don’t last forever, and West Brom came to realise that in defeats to Manchester United, Crystal Palace, Newcastle and Aston Villa.

Conclusion

Injuries are bound to catch up to Liverpool at some point – but we think it’ll happen in a different way than it would for most teams. They’re so good that they’ll probably be able to win most games in this league even without a full strength side, although they’ll be made to work for it moreso than they would without the absences. Therefore, we think the Reds will edge out a narrow win over a West Bromwich Albion side who don’t really have anything to lose.

Our official prediction is going to be 2-0 Liverpool, ensuring that we stick to the under 2.5 goals bracket – but that doesn’t mean we won’t get some real drama on Merseyside this weekend.

Verdict: Back the home win at odds of 1/9 and the under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 2/1 (All odds are taken from bet365).
