Prediction and odds for the game: Fulham (1/5) vs Manchester United (8/15)

We are backing Marcus Rashford to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 13/10

When: Wednesday, 20th January 2021, Kick-off 20:15

Where: Craven Cottage

On Wednesday night, Fulham welcome Manchester United to Craven Cottage in what is a big game at both ends of the Premier League table.

Fulham

The Cottagers remain in deep trouble despite some spirited displays of late in the top-flight. Scott Parker’s team are 18th in the Premier League table, four points from safety.

A 1-0 home defeat against local rivals Chelsea last time out ended a run of five straight draws in the top-flight for the home team. They were slightly unfortunate to come away from the match empty-handed after the dismissal of full-back Antonee Robinson just before half-time.

The defeat means that Fulham have won just once in their last ten games, but the improvement in performances have given the Cottagers hope that results may also improve in the near future.

Fulham have won just one of their nine home games in the Premier League this season. They have also failed to score their last three league matches on home soil. However, at the other end of the pitch, they have kept clean sheets in two of their last three home games in the top-flight, while conceding just once.

The team from south west London have struggled for wins against Wednesday’s opposition of late, as they have beaten the Red Devils just once in the last ten meetings in all competitions.

Manchester United

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team are top of the Premier League table. However, the Red Devils are now just two points clear of second-place arch-rivals Manchester City, who also have a game in-hand.

Last time out, United played out a goalless draw with another bitter rival Liverpool last time out. The draw means that the Red Devils are unbeaten in 12 Premier League games, having recorded nine wins in the process.

One facet of the visitors game that has improved of late has been their defence, as United have conceded just once in four top-flight outings.

The Red Devils have become away-day specialists in recent months, as they are unbeaten in 16 away matches in the top-flight, dating back to last February. However, they have been held to draws in two of their previous three league matches on their travels. They will be confident of achieving more than a draw at Craven Cottage.

Conclusion

Fulham’s recent displays have arguably deserved more points than they have yielded. However, the Cottagers have not quite had the quality to turn draws into wins. They have improved defensive of late, which will be needed in this clash.

The first bet we are going to recommend is for Marcus Rashford to be an anytime goalscorer. The England international plays a key part in United’s counter-attacking play and we fancy him to score in this clash. The other bet we taking a punt on is under 2.5 goals scored, as both teams have been decent of late in defence, and maybe tired from the weekend action.

Verdict: We are backing Marcus Rashford as an anytime goalscorer at odds of 13/10 and/or under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 11/10. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
