Prediction & odds for the game: Everton (15/2) v Manchester City (1/3) – ST is backing the away win

When: Saturday, 20th March @ 5.30pm K.O

Where: Goodison Park

Everton and Manchester City will meet on Merseyside this weekend with the winning progressing to the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley.

Everton

Carlo Ancelotti has already been able to inject some new life into Everton Football Club but even with that being the case, there’s still a long way to go before they’re considered to be amongst the elite in English football. One way of getting closer to that goal is by winning a piece of silverware, which is something they haven’t done for a long time to say the least. If they beat City in this game, they’ll take the definition of a giant leap forward with that mission statement.

Everton actually lost to City back in February but after that, they went on a nice run of form with wins over Liverpool, Southampton and West Brom. Unfortunately for them it didn’t last long with defeats to Chelsea and Burnley coming shortly afterwards in a hectic start to the month of March.

Manchester City

Manchester City could be on the verge of something special this season as they pursue an unprecedented quadruple by attempting to win the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup. At this moment in time they’re favourites to win all four but as we know, juggling so many different competitions can be a problem – and it only takes one lapse in concentration for all of the cards to come crumbling down.

Outside of their defeat to Manchester United that broke their 21-game winning run, Manchester City have been on fire. They’ve beaten West Ham, Wolves, Southampton, Fulham and Borussia Monchengladbach all in the space of just a few weeks.

Conclusion

While Everton fans would love nothing more than to play at Wembley and get a chance at capturing a long-awaited trophy, City are on a path to greatness and very little is going to get in their way. We don’t think this is going to be a one-sided battering by any stretch of the imagination given that this is a quarter-final, but we also don’t expect the Toffees to trouble Pep’s men too much. We’re backing the Premier League leaders to make it into the final four and take another step towards immortality.

Our official scoreline prediction is going to be 1-0 Manchester City, ensuring we stick to the under 2.5 goals bracket. It’s going to be tough to see this one turning into a classic but if the Toffees bite down on the mouth piece and go for it, anything can happen.

Verdict: Back the away win at odds of 1/3 and the under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 13/10 (All odds are taken from bet365).
