Prediction and odds for the game: Tottenham (17/4) vs Chelsea (4/6)

We are backing the away win at odds of 4/6

When: Sunday, 19th September 2021, Kick-off 16:30

Where: The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

On Sunday afternoon, Tottenham host Chelsea at the Tottenham Hotspur in a Premier League London derby, as the visitors look to maintain their strong early season form.

Tottenham

The home side won their opening three Premier League games before a 3-0 hammering at Crystal Palace in their last top-flight outing. The fact that Japhet Tanganga saw red early in the second half certainly affected the result. The defeat ended a four-game winning run for Spurs in the English top-flight dating back to last season. Nuno Espirito’s team also drew 2-2 with Rennes in the Europa League on Thursday night.

One major positive for Tottenham in recent times has been their home form in Premier League, as they have won five of their last six league matches on home soil. The north London outfit has also kept clean sheets in all four of the victories.

Tottenham have fitness doubts over several players, including Heung-Min Son, Eric Dier, Cristian Romero and Davinson Sanchez. Japhet Tanganga is also missing due to suspension.

Chelsea

The visitors have taken ten points from a possible 12 in the Premier League this season. The European champions have beaten Crystal Palace, Arsenal and Aston Villa. Thomas Tuchel’s team have impressed at both ends of the pitch, scoring at least two goals in each of their three top-flight victories.

The Blues also picked up a gritty 1-0 home win over Zenit in their Champions League group game of the season. Striker Romelu Lukaku scored his fourth goal in as many games for visitors against the Russian team. The Belgian international will be confident of taking advantage of a Spurs defence that may be missing key personnel or defenders who are not completely fit to start.

Chelsea have been tough customers on their travels of late, as the Blues have suffered just one defeat in their previous 16 Premier League games away from home. They have also won four of their last six top-flight away matches. Their most recent away games have been relatively low-scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in five of their previous eight matches in the Premier League.

Chelsea’s only injury doubt is USA winger Christian Pulisic, who is doubtful due to an ankle problem. Reece James is available again after suspension.

Conclusion

Tottenham started the season in a strong fashion, but personnel issues have made it difficult for the home team to continue that promising campaign. We are backing the away win in this clash, as Chelsea have looked so strong in the Premier League so far this season. We also fancy Kai Havertz to be an anytime goalscorer. The Germany international has looked lively so far this season and offers decent odds at 15/8.

Our Tips: We are backing the Chelsea win at odds of 15/8 and/or Kai Havertz to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 15/8. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
