Prediction and odds for the game: Real Sociedad (23/10) vs Real Madrid (5/4)

We are backing the away win

When: Saturday 4 December 2021, Kick-off 20:00

Where: The Reale Arena

On Saturday night, Real Sociedad and Real Madrid clash at the Reale Arena, in what could be a pivotal game in the fight for the Spanish top-flight title.

Real Sociedad

The team from San Sebastian made a flying start to their La Liga campaign. However, their stellar campaign has slightly stuttered of late with some disappointing results. A 1-0 defeat at Espanyol means that Imanol Alguacil last time out means that La Real have now won just one of their last four games in the Spanish top-flight.

However, on the flip-side, the defeat at the RCDE Stadium ended a 13-match unbeaten run in La Liga for the home team dating back to the opening weekend of the season.

Real Sociedad’s recent inconsistent form has seen La Real fall to third place, seven points behind the visitors who top the table.

Imanol’s team are unbeaten at the Reale Arena in ten games in the Spanish top-flight. Their most recent league matches have been tight and low-scoring affairs, with under 2.5 goals scored in their last seven games on home soil in La Liga.

Real Madrid

Los Blancos have really picked up ahead of steam in recent matches. Carlo Ancelotti’s team have been imperious in recent months, as a 1-0 midweek home win over Athletic Club was their seventh straight win in all competitions. The win against the Basque team also means that the club from the Spanish capital has recorded five straight league wins.

Despite summer doubts about the current squad, the visitors now look like the most likely winners of the Spanish title this season. A win in this clash would put Los Blancos ten points clear of La Real, whose focus would then most likely be on qualifying for the Champions League for next season.

One player who has proven vital for Real Madrid of late has been veteran French forward Karim Benzema. The 33-year-old has now scored in his last three appearances for the visitors, having registered an impressive 12 goals in 14 La Liga games this season.

Even playing away from home has not proven a hindrance to the league leaders, as their recent record of five wins in their last six away games in La Liga proves. Brazilian youngster Vinicius Junior has been particularly prolific on late in recent away games, scoring four goals in Real Madrid’s last five matches on their travels in La Liga.

Conclusion

This is a good time for Real Madrid to meet Real Sociedad because of the home side’s recent slip in form. Los Blancos have found stellar form of late in La Liga and we are backing Ancelotti’s team to record a narrow win at the Reale Arena. The other bet we are backing is Vinicius Junior to be an anytime goalscorer, as the youngster has been in good form in front of goal this season, especially away from home.

Our Tips: We are backing the away win at odds of 5/4 and/or Vinicius Junior to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 15/8. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
