When: Tuesday 18 January 2022, Kick-off 19:30

Where: Turf Moor

On Tuesday night, Burnley and Watford clash at Turf Moor in a massive game at the bottom of the Premier League table.

Burnley

The Clarets are bottom of the Premier League table but are just three points behind Tuesday night’s opponents, who are in the safety of 17th position in the standings. One thing that should be noted about Sean Dyche’s team is that the north west outfit has played fewer games than all the teams in the English top-flight. In fact, they have four games in hand on 18th place Norwich and three in hand on 19th place Newcastle.

Any chance of recovery depends on whether the Clarets can turn their recent poor results around. They head into this game on the back of a seven-game winless run in the English top-flight.

Burnley are unbeaten in their last four home matches in the English top-flight. However, Dyche’s team has won just one of their last 17 games on home soil in the Premier League.

Watford

The Hornets are still in the perilous position of 17th place in the table, just a point clear of the relegation zone. However, 18th place Norwich have played two more games than the visitors. A victory in this clash could prove pivotal in Claudio Ranieri’s team escaping the drop this season.

The problem for the visitors is that victories have been hard to come by of late in the English top-flight. A 1-1 draw at fellow strugglers Newcastle last time out means that Watford are winless in seven Premier League games. The draw at least ended a six-game losing streak for the Hornets in the English top-flight.

Ranieri’s team is also currently on a four-game winless run on their travels, including suffering three defeats and picking up a draw, which was in that match against Newcastle.

Watford have won just two of their nine away games in the Premier League, which were at fellow strugglers Norwich and crisis-hit Everton.

Conclusion

This is an absolutely massive game for both of these teams’ chances of avoiding the drop this season. A victory for either side would boot morale majorly and could be the springboard to rise up the table. However, we are backing the draw in this game, as we feel neither team has enough quality to record a win. We think this could also be a tight encounter, so we are backing under 2.5 goals scored too.

Our Tips: We are backing the draw at odds of 23/10 and/or under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 8/11. (All odds are taken from Bet365)
