Prediction and odds for the game: Everton (7/2) vs Manchester United (3/4)

We are backing the away win

When:  Saturday 9 April 2022, Kick-off 12:30

Where: Goodison Park

On Saturday lunchtime, Everton hosts Manchester United at Goodison Park in a game that will affect the fight for Premier League survival and the top-four race.

Everton

The Toffees have lurched from one bad result to another in the Premier League of late. However, a late 3-2 defeat against relegation rivals Burnley last time out may just prove to be a decisive result in the fight to avoid the drop. The loss means that Frank Lampard’s team is just a point above the Clarets, who are now 18th place.

The defeat at Turf Moor means that the men from Merseyside have now lost ten of their last 12 matches in the English top-flight. Head coach Lampard has also lost seven of his nine league matches in charge of the Toffees.

One factor in their lowly position in the table has been woeful home form, as Everton have won just three of their last 11 Premier League games on home soil. They have also failed to score in three of their last five home matches in the league.

Manchester United

The Red Devils will still believe that they can clinch that all-important fourth spot in the Premier League. Ralf Rangnick’s team is seventh-place in the standings, but are just three points behind fourth-placed Tottenham, with a vastly inferior goal difference.

United’s recent form has not been great though, as they head into this north west derby on the back of just one win in their last six matches in all competitions. A 1-1 home draw with Leicester last time out in the English top-flight also means that Manchester United have won just once in their last four league outings.

The visitors had been hard to beat on their travels until a 4-1 mauling at bitter-rivals Manchester City in their last league game on the road in the Premier League. The loss at the Etihad Stadium brought to an end a run of seven unbeaten away matches in the English top-flight for United.

The Red Devils have struggled for clean sheets away from home in the Premier League of late, having kept just one clean sheet in their last nine away games in the English top-flight.

Conclusion

It is hard to see where Everton’s next points come from as they embark on a tough run of fixtures that could define their season. United are unbeaten in the last six meetings with the Merseysider’s and we are backing the Red Devils to heap more misery upon the Toffees.

The other bet we are backing is over 2.5 goals, as neither team has been great defensively of late, so this should be a high-scoring encounter.

Our Tips: We are backing the away win at odds of 3/4 and/or over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 4/5. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
