Prediction and odds for the game: Lazio (15/8) v Juventus (7/5)

We are backing the away win.

When: 07th December 2019, Kick-off 7:45 PM

Where: The Stadio Olimpico

On Saturday night, Juventus face a serious test of their Serie A crown, as the reigning champions as the Bianconeri face a trip to in-form Lazio.

Lazio

Simone Inzaghi’s team have hit form just at the right time to face the reigning champions. The home side head into this game full of confidence after a four-game winning run in all competitions. Lazio recent record in Serie A is even more impressive, as they have won their last six league games, remaining unbeaten in nine matches.

The team from the Italian capital have been absolutely lethal front of goal in Serie A of late, including scoring at least twice in their previous nine outings in the Italian top-flight. Their recent run of scoring form has contributed to the home side being the top scorers in Serie A.

Lazio’s home form has also been strong of late, as they are unbeaten in eight games at the Stadio Olimpico, having won five of their last six league games on home soil, while also scoring at least twice in five of their last six home games in Serie A.

One negative for Inzaghi’s team heading into the tough clash is that they have beaten Juventus just once in the last 16 meetings in all competitions.

Juventus

The reigning champions find themselves in the unfamiliar position of second place in the table, with Inter currently leading the table by a point. The Nerazzurri face off against Lazio’s arch-rivals Roma on Friday night, so Juventus could be four points behind their rivals by the time this game kicks off.

In truth, Maurizio Sarri’s team have not faltered that much of late. However, a surprise 2-2 home draw against Sassuolo in their last home match in the Italian top-flight was enough for Inter to leapfrog the Turin giants.

In fact, the draw against Sassuolo ended a four-game winning run for the champions in Serie A. It does still mean that Juventus are unbeaten in 14 league games, though.

Sarri’s team have remained undefeated on their travels in Serie A this season, recording five wins and two draws from their seven matches on the road. Their recent away games in the Italian top-flight have been relatively low-scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in seven of their last ten Serie A games on their travels.

The Bianconeri have won on their last seven visits to Lazio in all competitions.

Conclusion

This is a game that Juventus may have wanted to avoid after the draw against Sassuolo, as Lazio are in good form. However, the reigning champions seem to have the knack of upping their game when they need to, which is why we are backing the away win. The other bet we are backing is both teams to score.

Verdict: Back the away win at odds of 7/5 and/or both teams to score at 4/6. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
