Prediction and odds for the game: Bournemouth (17/4) Leicester (4/6)

We are backing the away win

When: Sunday, 12th July 2020, Kick-off 19:00

Where: The Vitality Stadium

On Sunday evening, Bournemouth host Leicester at the Vitality Stadium, in what could be a massive clash in the race for Champions League football and survival in the Premier League.

Bournemouth

The Cherries look to be in major trouble at the wrong end of the Premier League table. Eddie Howe’s team are currently 18th place in the table, three points from safety with an inferior goal difference to the two teams above them.

Last time out, the team from the south coast picked up a point in a 0-0 goalless draw against Spurs. However, they were slightly fortunate after Tottenham forward Harry Kane saw a legitimate claim for a penalty kick turned down.

The draw means that the Cherries have failed to win any of their previous nine games in the Premier League, suffering seven defeats in the process. At least a five-match losing run in the top-flight for the home side came to an end with the draw.

Bournemouth have been poor on home soil of late, having won just two of their previous 11 Premier League matches. They have also failed to win in four top-flight games at the Vitality Stadium.

Leicester

The Foxes have made a mixed return after the Premier League restart. However, a record of just two wins from their previous ten games is certainly not one of a team looking to finish in the top-four this season.

Despite the recent inconsistent recent record, Brendan Rodgers team has shown signs of improvement by picking up four points from their last six. Last time out, the visitors drew 1-1 with in-form Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Leicester looked relatively secure in the Champions League spots, but fifth-place Manchester United are now just a point adrift of the Foxes in the table. There is a seven-point gap between the visitors and Midlands rivals Wolves. There is a possibility that Leicester could book their place in the Champions League this weekend if results go in their favour.

One negative for the visitors has been their recent away form in the English top-flight. Rodgers team has failed to pick up a win in their last six league matches on their travels, claiming three draws and suffering three defeats.

Leicester have had the better of recent meetings with Bournemouth, winning the last two encounters between the pair and losing in just one of the last six meetings.

Conclusion

The draw against Spurs was positive for Bournemouth. However, they are getting to the point of the season where they need maximum points. Unfortunately for the Cherries, we are predicting that Leicester will come away from their trip to the south coast with maximum points. We also believe it could be a close encounter, so we are backing under 2.5 goals scored too.

Verdict: We are backing the away win at 4/6 and/or under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 10/11. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
