Prediction and odds for the game: Chelsea (4/7) vs Brighton (5/1)

We are backing the home win at odds of 4/7

When: Tuesday, 20th April 2021, Kick-off 20:00

Where: Stamford Bridge

On Tuesday night, Chelsea will look to maintain their bid for a top-four spot this season, as they welcome Brighton to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea

The Blues head into this clash on the back of booking their place in the FA Cup final after a solid 1-0 semi-final victory over Premier League champions-elect Manchester City on Saturday evening. The win means that the Blues could still do the double of FA Cup and Champions League this season.

However, in the league, Thomas Tuchel’s team are in a major fight for a Champions League spot for next season. The Blues are currently fifth place in the table, but a win would move them back into the Premier League’s top-four.

Chelsea’s recent Premier League form has dipped slightly of late, as they have won just once in their last three top-flight games. They did end a mini two-game winless run in the league last time out by recording an emphatic 4-1 win at London rivals Crystal Palace.

The Blues have a decent recent record on home soil in the Premier League, as the bizarre 5-2 defeat in their last league outing at Stamford Bridge ended an unbeaten home run of five games. Tuchel’s team had also kept five straight games on home soil in the English top-flight.

Brighton

The Seagulls are seven points clear of the relegation zone with a game in hand on 18th place Fulham. Graham Potter’s team should have enough points to stay out of the relegation zone, but they will still be looking over their shoulders slightly nervously at the bottom three.

Luckily for Brighton, Fulham have hit a bad run of league form of late. The visitor’s recent form has been inconsistent. However, their record of just two wins from their previous nine league matches is a poor one.

Potter’s team have struggled for goals in the Premier League this season, only the league’s bottom four have scored fewer than the Seagulls. Their top goalscorer in the Premier League this season is French Neal Maupay with just eight goals.

Brighton’s recent away record is a poor one, as they have won just once in their last four Premier League outings on their travels. They have also lost two of their previous away matches in the English top-flight.

Conclusion

Chelsea look in confident mood and we can only see a home win in this game, despite the Blues having played at the weekend. We are backing the home win. The other bet we recommend is under 2.5 goals scored. Chelsea have been relatively solid in defence of late, while Brighton have been impotent in front of goal.

Verdict: We are backing the home win at odds of 4/7 and/or under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 4/5. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
